About this data
The data on this website is provided by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency. The VLA’s Regional Laboratories analyse samples
submitted to them by veterinary surgeons. It is these sample reports that are shown on the graphs.
As by no means all incidences of a disease will be reported in this way, numbers should be seen as indicative of trends rather than absolute.
Key Diseases
We monitor Gut Worm Scours, Fluke and Parasitic Pneumonia in cattle and sheep, as well as Sheep Scab.
Updates
Data on the website is updated monthly as soon as the previous month’s data is available. This is normally by the middle of the
following month.
Occasionally reports from the current month may not
contain all the data. This is because some figures are not reported until after the monthly update. If so, figures are rectified in the following month’s update.
A few nationally reported diagnoses do not appear on the
regional breakdowns. These include the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the occasional diagnosis whose origin is unknown.
