Sheep Diseases - National Update

Headlines

Fluke

Levels of Fluke are still abnormally high, at almost double the 3-year average. Some regions are experiencing levels four or five times the norm. However reported cases dipped slightly in December, except in Wales and the north where they continued to climb.

Gut Worm Scours (PGE)

Levels of PGE reports continue to fall, but are now broadly in line with previous years. The Midlands and West region bucks the trend with over three times the norm.

Pneumonia

Reported cases were close to the seasonal average for December, with 4 diagnoses nationally: 3 in Scotland and 1 in Oxfordshire

Sheep Scab

Having followed the normal trend closely through the year, reported cases of Sheep Scab have dropped back to near half the seasonal average. Over half the cases were found in Wales, the vast majority in Dyfed.
